My 2014 ended with a party in Seogwipo at a bar that was quite honestly the fanciest bar I had ever seen in downtown Seogwipo. The very next day I found out that one of my fulbright friends, Courtney, was coming to Jeju for a three day trip with two friends from Arkansas. It was a whirlwind of three days where I dragged them all over the island including to Seongsan Ilchulbang, Mangjjanggol Caves, Sangbansan, and O'Solluc tea fields. At one point it was so snowy and icy that we got out and pushed the car. I will never forget that memory. I felt bad for the driver (who had only ever driven in Arkansas where they cancel school at the sight of snow) but I had a blast. Seeing the island covered in snow is definitely a rare experience, and i'm glad I got to share it with some friends. However, I really hope Cort gets to see a warmer side of the island in April when everyone is here for Jeju Conference. Also included in this slideshow is John Schmale, Lakeside graduate for all those CMCers reading this blog.
